Calamian Tagbanua, Palawan, Philippines.
A Tagbanua man cooks dinner in his home over an open fire on Coron Island. Many of the Tagbanua homes on Coron Island are built using native materials against the limestone cliffs or on the beach. Cooking over an open fire is the most common, and usually the only way to prepare food in most villages. Even in more urban areas where gas stoves can be used, open fire cooking is the preferred method. Gathering firewood is usually a daily chore done by all members of a family.
